Business Solutions for Maximizing Profits November 2005

Earlier this month, I visited with John and Jackie Pankraz of Elite Electric. I had the opportunity to tour their facility, and met their entire team.  I saw first hand the results of implementing Numbers Crunchers and the NSPG Price Guide Flat Rate System with the   best training program in the industry today from Nexstar.

I met John and Jackie 3 years ago at a Nexstar sponsored Money Masters event. These events are designed to show Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical Contractors specific techniques for building and maintaining a profitable service business. Nexstar’s track record on helping contractors achieve this has been stellar.

When I first meet John and Jackie, they were 100% new construction and coming out of a very difficult financial situation.  Three years later they are 100% service with sales over $1.7 million and maintaining double digit net profits. That’s a major transition and shows what proper business Implementation can do. It's powerful stuff.

Combining Numbers Cruncher and implementing profitable selling prices into the NSPG Flat Rate books can be key ingredients for a successful profitable business.  When Elite Electric added Nexstar’s Service Systems Tech training. their techs became super techs armed with communication skills to complement their technical skills.

Customer Service reps developed a 6th sense for how to book calls and handle clients on the phone.  Their management learned how to create a company culture which encourages self motivation and customer satisfaction. Elite's success was built by implementing a recipe for success using NSPG software tools and Nexstar Service System training. This system, which logically is so simple but emotionally so difficult, has truly made the difference in so many lives at Elite Electric.

Visiting with John and Jackie and the entire Elite team was very emotional and inspiring for me. I want to thank John, Jackie and their team for the experience. There’s nothing that moves me more than watching our NSPG family implement and build a profitable business. That's why I created NSPG -  to develop tools to help you all become more profitable. When I can see it happen first-hand, it’s awe inspiring.

Harsh Reality Strikes!
NSPG Cold HouseThe son of one of our employees is a member of a fraternity at an engineering college.  He was chosen to find a contractor to replace the non-functioning steam boiler in the frat house.  Being a teenager, he did not consult with anyone here at NSPG for a recommendation of a quality contractor!.

He found four local contractors willing to quote the job.  After reviewing the bids and the contractors' qualifications, they made their choice.  Since they had no money, they chose the lowest bidder, and called him within three weeks of getting the quotation. 

Boiler replacement with nspgThat's when they ran into the hard reality of the business world.  The selected contractor was nowhere to be found.  His phone lines were disconnected and his business office was empty.  Most likely he was a victim of incorrect pricing.  Had he crunched his numbers regularly, he probably would not have been so much lower than the other bidders (more than 10% lower).
